Bowers & Wilkins HTM81 D4 Centre Speaker - Gloss Black
Details
Largest Flagship 800 Series Diamond Centre Speaker
The largest centre-channel speaker is designed to partner the 801 D4 and 802 D4. A powerful performer, HTM81 D4 has both the scale and the midrange extension to perfectly match the quality of its illustrious stablemates.
Aerofoil Bass Cone
The Aerofoil bass cone technology remains an outstanding solution to the conundrum of combining low mass and high stiffness in bass cones, thanks to its carbon-like skin and variable-profile foam core. Now with a foam Anti-Resonance Plug for lower distortion and even cleaner bass.
Reverse Wrap Cabinet
Instead of a conventional loudspeaker box, the cabinet is made from a continuous curved section of wood, with the drive units mounted at the heart of the curvature. This stiffer, more inert structure resists mechanical resonances far better and also ensures better dispersion of sound.
Continuum Cone Midrange
Introduced as a huge evolutionary change in 2015, the Continuum cone midrange driver has swiftly become a fundamental element in every Bowers & Wilkins loudspeaker. With exceptionally low noise, it ensures outstanding resolution without colouration or masking of detail.
Decouple Midrange Assembly
HTM81 D4 has a dedicated midrange cone using three key Bowers & Wilkins technologies: the Continuum cone, Biomimetic Suspension and midrange decoupling, the latter ensuring minimal interference from the operation of the loudspeaker's bass drivers. The result is outstanding clarity.
Biomimetic Suspension
Sometimes, making a big difference takes unconventional thinking. Our new Biomimetic Suspension revolutionises midrange performance by greatly reducing unwanted air pressure and colouration that a traditional fabric spider can generate. The result? Midrange transparency you wouldn't believe.
Aluminium Bass Pods
HTM81 D4 mounts two Aerofoil bass cones in twin solid aluminium bass pods, each of which is clamped into an aluminium plate fixed to the stiffest part of its curved cabinet. Formed as single pieces of metal, these stiff structures provide the perfect mechanical location for the powerful bass cones.
Solid-Body Tweeter-on-Top
The Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top housing features an elongated form with a longer tube-loaded system and an all-new design of tweeter grille, producing an even more free and open sound for high frequencies.
Diamond Dome Tweeter
One of the most significant accomplishments over the past two decades, the ultra-stiff, supremely accurate Diamond dome tweeter is the perfect combination of low mass, exceptional stiffness and outstanding accuracy. 15 years after Bowers & Wilkins introduced it, the engineering team still haven't found a better tweeter dome technology.
Midrange Enclosure
Inside HTM81 D4, a stiff aluminium enclosure ensures the performance of the midrange unit is maximised. It provides a controlled location point for the midrange decoupling and prevents unwanted air leakage into the surrounding cabinet.
