803 D4 Tower Speakers

The most compact 'headed' model brings all the technical advantages of a dedicated midrange enclosure - the Turbine Head, with its decoupled midrange cone - to a smaller footprint that's easily accommodated in your home.

Small Wonder

803 D4 may be notably more compact than the likes of the 801 or 802 D4, but it still bristles with technical innovation, most obviously in its use of a three-box construction. Its 130mm midrange cone is carefully isolated from the impact of its bass cones thanks to its Turbine Head enclosure.

Aluminium Top-Plate

The 803 D4 has a significantly upgraded cabinet with an all-new aluminium top-plate. This also provides a perfect mounting point for all-new Leather by Connolly trim, with luxurious black leather for dark cabinets and light grey for lighter finishes.

Reverse Wrap Cabinet

Instead of a conventional loudspeaker box, the cabinet in 803 D4 is made from a continuous curved section of wood, with the drive units mounted at the heart of the curvature. This stiffer, more inert structure resists mechanical resonances far better and also ensures better dispersion of sound.

Enhanced Matrix

Matrix bracing uses interlocking panels to reinforce loudspeaker cabinet walls in all directions internally, reducing resonance and creating a more believable soundstage. The Matrix assembly in 803 D4 is Bowers & Wilkins best yet, ensuring optimum scale, power and intelligibility.

Aluminium Bass Pods

803 D4 mounts two Aerofoil bass cones in twin solid aluminium bass pods, each of which is clamped into an aluminium plate fixed to the stiffest part of its curved cabinet. Formed as single pieces of metal, these stiff structures provide the perfect mechanical location for these powerful bass cones.

Aluminium Plinth

A great speaker needs a rock-solid foundation. The 803 D4 uses a downwards-firing Flowport exiting on to a solid aluminium plinth, complete with a steel constrained layer damping sheet, which controls unwanted resonance. It also has greatly upgraded spikes for maximum stability and durability.

Solid-Body Tweeter-on-Top

The Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top housing features an elongated form with a longer tube-loaded system and an all-new design of tweeter grille, producing an even more free and open sound for high frequencies.

Diamond Dome Tweeter

One of the most significant accomplishments over the past two decades, the ultra-stiff, supremely accurate Diamond dome tweeter is the perfect combination of low mass, exceptional stiffness and outstanding accuracy. 15 years after Bowers & Wilkins introduced it, the engineering team still haven't found a better tweeter dome technology.

Truly Amazing Sound

Thanks to its composite construction, the Continuum cone avoids the abrupt transitions in behaviour that can impair the performance of a conventional drive unit. The result is a more open, neutral performance that delivers voices and instruments with precision and transparency.
